Zebra Metals & Environmental Services, is part of The Zebra Group of companies based at Gracemere.

Directors Ron & Tracey Bowes, commenced their automotive parts recycling business in 1989 with Rockhampton Truck Wreckers (later becoming Zebra Wrecking Co.)

In that 22 years the group has grown to comprise of 6 businesses, four of which are specialists in ELV (End of Life Vehicle) recycling, and 2 covering the metal recycling & waste management needs of their extensive customer base. 

All 6 businesses are located in the Rockhampton Regional Council area and employ a combined total of over 40 local staff, and are managed with an empasis on worker safety, retention of long term dedicated employees, and the maintenance of strong commercial relationships. 

Zebra Metals & Environmental Services primarily handle all scrap metals, and recycled in excess of 10,000T last calendar year, and have provided recycable material removal and landfill clean up services for numerous sites in Central Queensland. We regularly participate in the Clean Up Australia project and offer a free car body removal service throughout Central Queensland. We also process large quantities of fuel and waste fluids in an environmentally safe manner. We are also in ongoing disscussions with local councils, and mining entities, on innovative recycling initiatives for different materials currently going to landfill.

Zebra Metals & Environmental Services is a profitable local business which is continually growing and expanding rapidly. Future works will see this business continue to provide a quality efficient service to all current and new customers, including and not limiting ourselves to removal of all scrap metals in Central Queensland.

Ron Bowes – Managing Director

Rons experience with steel goes back to apprenticeship days as a shipbuilder with NQEA in Cairns, followed by extensive experience with trucks and other heavy vehicles, and a natural progression to metal recycling. Rons current qualifications include:-

Mick McKie – Manager

Mick joined the company in September 2010 and brings with him 21 years of specialist scrap metal and recycling experience. Previously with prominent metals recycling companies in Southern Australia, Mick is skilled in project, labour and time management and his knowledge of heavy scrap processing machinery is essential to any of the operations Zebra Metals & Environmental Services carry out. Micks current qualifications include:-

Colin Underwood – Field Operations Supervisor

Colin has been employed with the company for over 14 years. Colin is a highly accomplished Field Operations Supervisor and manages his post in a manner so efficient that any superior finds it impossible to doubt his work. Colin executes every task at hand with an absolute sincerity and dedication. He ahs very good people skills and is hands on – no stress style of leadership has made him one of the companies most valued employees. Colins current qualifications include:-
